I would love to have an app that documented all of the beautiful locations and flowers in each city! However, I also love the thrill of unexpectedly stumbling across a beautiful spot. The other night we decided to enjoy the warm weather and go on a scavenger walk through the city to find magnolias. We found a couple of trees in strange locations but then found this perfect magnolia tree beside an old stone building in a parking lot. We goofed off and snapped some pics while Sophie (our puppy) proceeded to destroy any blossoms that had fallen to the ground. It was the most perfect start (finally!) to summer!
I read a quote recently that stuck with me – “the secret to being happy is accepting where you are in life and making the most of everyday“.
I’m someone who likes to stay busy and plan for the future (as many of you are painfully aware!). However, this quote has kind of grounded me over the past few days and made me more mindful of the present. Its not that I am unhappy with my current situation, but I think my multi-tasking and advance planning often prevent me from appreciating the moment. I get so caught up on what is coming up next that I tend to miss the moment. I really want to make a point of slowing down, appreciating each day, and being more mindful of my actions.
I also want to try and make less social media/life comparisons because I think it would greatly increase life satisfaction. “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes to everyone else’s highlight reel.” How true is this?! How do these quotes resonate with you?
Thanks for reading! xoxo L
